Services

Our other services include:
|
Lubrication & Oil Analysis
Eastway technicians sample and test engines, gearboxes, hydraulic systems and transformers as part of their condition monitoring services. Analysis of these oil samples can assess the performance and efficiency of your machinery. It will detect early evidence of any emerging faults and allow you to act swiftly to prevent deterioration in condition.
Inspection method.
Our inspection is carried out under normal working conditions. Oil samples are taken and sent to laboratory for analysis.

Transformer Oil Analysis
PCB Tests, Physical Tests and Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) tests are carried out on the transformer oil samples and a detailed report is prepared with the results.
- PCB-The Polychlorinated biphenyl content is determined to meet the European directive. Analysis is done by Gas Chromatography/ Electron Capture Detection.
- Physical Tests-The following physical tests are carried out: Colour, Fibre Content, Acidity, Moisture and Breakdown average.
- GA-The following dissolved gases are analysed in the oil: Oxygen, Nitrogen, Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, Hydrogen, Methane, Ethylene, Ethane, Acethylene, Gas Content % and Saturation %.
|
Gearbox & Hydraulic Oil Analysis
Spectrographic, Viscosity, Water and PQ (Debris Monitor) tests are carried out on the samples and a detailed report is prepared with the results.

Steam System Surveys
A steam system that has not been maintained will undoubtedly have failed traps. The main causes are dirt created from chemical process and pipe scaling that are carried through the piping system and eventually collect at the trap.
As everyone in industry knows the cost to produce steam is significant and system leaks and defective steam traps can easily amount to thousands of Euros of wasted energy.
A vigilant steam system preventive maintenance programme and steam trap surveys will reduce energy costs by as much as 35%.
Eastway Survey Method & Reporting:
- Ultrasonic testing
- Turbulence in defective traps causes ultrasonic sound
- Converted to low frequency with probe
- Infrared testing
- Confirm diagnosis by checking temperature differentials
- Faulty steam traps and leaks will be ‘tagged’ during on-site survey
- A cost analysis will be produced based on estimated losses, based on steam trap orifice size and steam pressure

Portable Appliance Testing
Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is mandatory under the HSA guidelines and is carried out on an annual or bi-annual basis.
Portables appliances are classed as any handheld or movable equipment.
The equipment is divided into two categories:
Also the following tests are carried out:
- Visual
- Insulation
- Leakage
- Earth Bond
- Power
- Polarity

Industrial Energy Audits
An energy survey or audit is an essential activity for any organisation wishing to reduce energy and utility costs and hence improve profitability.
Objectives of survey
- To quantify energy use at the site
- To identify practical energy saving projects
Energy survey stages
- Energy consumption and cost
- Calculation of energy flows
- Review of energy flows
- Project generation
- Project evaluation
- Reporting
Energy survey benefits
- Setting of energy efficiency targets
- Financial benefits in terms of reduced costs and increased profits
- Operational benefits in terms of improved productivity, comfort and safety and security of energy supply.
- Environmental benefits such as sustainability, conservation of resources and emission savings including greenhouse gas reductions.

Refrigeration and cold storage mapping
Thermography is a near perfect tool for the non-destructive examination of the thermal envelopes of low and medium temperature refrigerated facilities.
The presence of any type of breach in the thermal envelope can create havoc with any refrigeration or cooling system.
Eastway use their top of the range thermographic equipment to detect cold storage cooling losses and insulation leaks in refrigeration equipment.

Infrared Inspection Window Supply & Installation
Infrared thermography is a proven, well tested, safe and efficient method of checking the serviceability of electrical components. IR Windows allow for electrical panels to be inspected without opening the panel doors, therefore overcoming the obstacle of inaccessibility to some panels during a site survey.
Eastway Technical Consultants Ltd are the exclusive agents in the Republic of Ireland for G M Tech, manufacturers of the VPF ® range of IR windows.
The VPF ®range of IR windows are IP65 rated and come in a variety of types and sizes to suit their application.

Vibration Sensor Supply and Installation
Eastway Technical supply and install remote vibration sensors, known as ‘Accelerometers’, which allow inaccessible equipment to be monitored safely and effectively on a regular basis. See the picture of the vibration sensors mounted on an Air Handling Unit Motor at both bearing positions, Motor Non-Drive End and Motor Drive End.
The cables are run to a point outside the unit and the BNC connections are mounted at a suitable location. Our vibration testing machines connect directly to the BNC connections.
